Omozusi and Stefanovic sign to make Goreham and Adam’s job that little bit harder. Is Bell next?

Well, after reporting that Fulham duo Elliot Omozusi and Dejan Stefanovic were about to sign, Norwich fans got the official confirmation they were waiting for on Friday evening. Hurrah!

With those two signings in the squad now looks to be shaping up nicely with quite decent competition for places all around. Omozusi will challenge Jon Otsemobor for that right back spot, and Fulham fans seem to rate him highly.

Stefanovic is an experienced center half who will, I think, turn out to be an important signing for City. He has proven himself a very good center back at the highest level, and whilst not in the peak of his career has enough in the tank to contribute well to a Championship side like ours.

You may well remember that this duo came with a third possible signing – Luton’s David Bell. For whatever reason, Bell didn’t sign on the dotted line. However, Sky Sports reported yesterday that Bell has agreed a 3yr contract with us and will sign imminently.

That seems to tie in with Roeder saying that two more were due before the middle of this week with a further two more for the week after. Hopefully the other three will be mostly strikers – we do need strikers now as a priority. If you were to push me for the other for this week, I would tell you Maceo Rigters – but why? Well… just call it a hunch!

First Signing Close says Roeder. Radio Norfolk says Sammy Clingan to sign imminently.

So, it seems as if the first signing is finally near. After awaiting exceptionally patiently (it seems years since the last game!) Roeder has told the Official Website that the first signing is close and that four or five will follow shortly after.

And if that’s not enough, Radio Norfolk have learnt through sources in the Midlands that Nottingham Forest midfielder, Sammy Clingan is set to sign for Norwich. Clingan, rumoured to be interesting Ipswich and QPR as well as considering an offer from Forest, is a Northern Irish international midfielder. Beyond that, we don’t know an awful lot about him.

Still, this is an exciting time for Norwich fans, who no doubt will be eagerly anticipating who it is Roeder has got nearly signed, sealed and delivered.

Clinton Morrison leaving Palace – and Norwich are in the tug of war for him

When we were relegated from the Premiership, many Norwich fans will recall a brief spell when we were bidding against Crystal Palace for the services of Clinton Morrison, then of Birmingham City FC. We had had a bid accepted, only to be gazumped by Crystal Palace.

Now, however, Morrison is on the look out of for a new club after Colin (aka Neil Warnock) has told him he is not an automatic choice to play in his 4-3-3 system. Apparently, according again to today’s News of the World, in the queue to sign him is QPR, Reading and us.

Clinton Morrison

You have to believe looking at those teams also chasing him, we would have little chance of signing him. However, it may well be that if Morrison is looking for guarenteed first team football, he may well see here as his best option.

That is, of course, assuming the rumours are correct and our interest is true.

Still, it’s the sort of player we should be going in for – a good, solid Championship goal scoring record, with plenty of Championship experience and the strength and athleticisim that Roeder has identified as lacking in the current Norwich City squad.

Bid lodged for David Bell

The plight of Luton Town FC is one known to most fans. Reaching the heights of the Championship under Mike Newell, Luton proceeded to then self combust, selling all of their stars one by one. Now, the team are a shell of their former self having been dragged through administration into League Two, with only one star left – David Bell.

Bell left Town on loan to Leicester in the January transfer window after a number of eye catching performances for the Hatters, including Luton’s spirited FA Cup clash against Liverpool. Playing only 6 times, Bell still impressed despite Leicester being relegated to League One.

Now Bell, who can play out wide or in central midfield, has a number of suitors – including, according to Sky Sports – Norwich. I for one think this lad would improve our squad and offer a creative influence we could use in our midfield options.
